‘Samtidsritualisme [Contremporary Ritualism]’ is an ongoing body of work exploring the ceremonial rituals hidden within contemporary life:

dancing, recovery, waiting.
belonging, projection, identity.
transformation, growing, becoming.

Through a weaving of disciplines, ‘Samtidsritualisme’ reframes everyday behaviours as modern rituals, and provokes us to consider our acts of repetition that we often perform in search of connection, identity, or presence.

The project is primarily inspired by the laborious repetition of adult life, as well as drawing from my experiences with identity, queer nightlife, and the turbulence of growing up in digital spaces, using rich, vibrant visual language and design akin to fantasy worlds. By positioning contemporary existence with the same emotional and philosophical weight often reserved for ancient ritual practices, ‘Samtidsritualisme’ evokes questioning of the modern landscape and the motions we go through every day just to exist, and is approached from a trauma-informed and disability-led perspective.
